POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst in Residential Asset Management will be responsible for preparing financial analysis and modeling that will assist the Residential Asset Management team in developing and implementing strategies to maximize the value of each of the assets within its portfolio.  In that capacity, the Financial Analyst will interact with the investment, development, property management, leasing, capital market, and accounting teams as well as Senior Management at JBG SMITH.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Assumes day to day asset management responsibilities for select projects including analyzing financials/reforecasts/budgets, obtaining relevant market pricing/concession/competitive benchmarking, evaluating operating expense trends, monitoring delinquency at mixed use assets, analyzing retail lease economics, review tenant financials, determine health ratios, and facilitate lease process
  • Provides due diligence/closing support during major capitalization events: financings, recapitalizations, dispositions, acquisitions
  • Provides analytical support to senior members of the Asset Management and other internal teams
  • Assists in evaluating value creation opportunities (ex: ROI capital expenditures)
  • Assists in the preparation of more comprehensive annual strategic plans for individual residential/mixed use assets (valuation analysis, market analysis, sell/hold/refinance analysis, capital expenditure analysis)
  • Coordinates reporting processes, including preparing proformas and sensitivity analyses, investment memoranda, variance analyses, leasing summaries, rent growth metrics, debt yield calculations
  • Interact with outside parties including lenders, joint venture partners, retail/commercial tenants, legal counsel, and brokers through professional written communication and timely response to requests

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)

  • 0-3  years of financial analysis experience with an exceptional academic record, superior quantitative skills and analytical abilities
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong quantitative skills and core financial competency and the ability to create financial models and one-off financial analyses with ease
  • Basic knowledge of financing and underwriting methodologies
  • Conscientious, self-directed and entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with teams

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 annually. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. JBG SMITH considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
