  • Overview

    A qualified candidate may be of any background but must demonstrate an ability to understand a wide variety of businesses/industries, possess strong communication skills, and be highly driven/self-motivated. Experience with any kind of sales, marketing or client services would be a plus.


    Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Interfacing with tenants, asset management, property management, construction, development, accounting, acquisitions and other personnel to professionally lease retail and mixed-use properties for company owned assets and third-party accounts.
    • Identify prospects to lease space to in existing centers and new development projects.
    • Work with existing tenants on their lease renewals and amendments.
    • Work extensively with both local and national brokers.
    • Cold call and canvas for leads, tour retail space with prospective tenants.
    • Prepare letters of intent and negotiate terms with prospective and existing tenants.
    • Qualify potential tenants by reviewing their financial statements, credit report, and checking references.
    • Assist construction with demising plans, estimates, and solutions.
    • Assist development with merchandising and tenant mix, layout of a property, retail space requirements and general leasing expertise.
    • Assist inside and outside counsel with the negotiation of business and legal terms for leases.
    • Reviews industry and local market publications for information on the retail/shopping center industry as well as maintain local market intelligence. Be prepared to share data gathered to the larger retail leasing team.
    • Prepare market study reports and collect lease and sale comparable information as well as relevant market knowledge and sales reports.
    • Assist accounting with preparation of annual budget estimates.
    • Assist marketing with preparation of site plans, internet advertising, branding and additional marketing materials.
    • In addition to landlord representation leasing agents provide tenant representation services to local, regional and national retail tenants throughout the metro DC area.
    • Support company strategies and procedures in the continuing development and operation of commercial retail properties.

    Driven and Self Motivated.  You give your all to any project and are always looking ahead to the next task at hand.  You require little direction when given a new responsibility and welcome the opportunity/challenge to take on more.

    Team Player.  You work well with others and are focused on achieving the goals of the group. You are less concerned about who gets the credit, just that the task gets accomplished.


    Additional qualifications include:


    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications or similar field required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
    • Proficient in Word and Excel
    • Ability to travel to properties frequently by car
