    What Experience You Will Gain:

    In the Assistant Real Estate Manager role, you will have the opportunity to (i) deepen your property management knowledge (ii) develop management and leadership skills, (iii) learn the key drivers of retail and (iv) interact with many groups throughout the company including leasing, asset management, accounting, lease administration and the Retail leadership team at JBG SMITH.


    What You Will Do:

    The Assistant Real Estate Manager is responsible for working with Real Estate Managers and third-party owners to maximize the financial and operational performance of all assets in the retail portfolio. Your specific responsibilities will include:

    • Attending onsite meetings / inspections with lenders, insurance providers and vendors including sprinkler and environmental inspections at the request of Real Estate Managers
    • Coordinating quarterly and annual property maintenance and inspections reports
    • Preparing vendor service contracts and tracking vendor certificates of insurance
    • Interacting with many of the monthly service contractors (trash, sprinkler monitoring/maintenance, electrical, etc.)
    • Preparing tenant correspondence including late letters and in-house default (as needed)
    • Communicating and meeting with tenants regarding various tenant requests, including coordinating repairs at the request of Real Estate Managers
    • Participating in the rotation for after-hours calls
    • Coordinating property utility account transfers
    • Collecting, reporting, and tracking the status of all property claims with risk management and coordinating site visits related to claims with Real Estate Managers
    • Assist with the maintenance and management of financial records related to property expense budgets

    • College degree or at least three years of experience in retail or property management
    • Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred

    • Professional presentation and superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency with a variety of software systems including Excel spreadsheets
