  • Overview

    The position will be within JBG SMITH’s Accounting department. Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs):

    Responsibilities

    • Work within fixed asset system and responsible for the timely recording of all fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions.
    • Responsible for following and suggesting procedures for the identification and accurate recording of fixed assets and leases.
    • Responsible for all month end close procedures related to fixed assets including depreciation entries, preparation of roll forward schedules and the reconciliation of the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger.
    • Assist with compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts including the transition from construction in progress to fixed asset categories and assignment of useful lives.
    • Work with construction management and project accounting teams to obtain and review monthly accrual entries.
    • Reconciliation of monthly bank statements.
    • Work with third party auditors on year-end tax and audit
    • Other accounting information required by the position

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
    • 1-3 years of related accounting experience.
    • Qualified to sit for the CPA exam is a preference.
    • Team player who is organized, proactive, self-directed, conscientious and assumes accountability and responsibility for specific performance and work product.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
    • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, particularly Microsoft Excel. Also some experience in Yardi or other accounting software is a plus.
