  • Overview

    The Tax Department is seeking a motivated team player to fill the newly created Tax Manager position.  This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work to coincide with internal and external deadlines.  This person will have frequent interaction with federal and state taxing authorities, all levels of internal employees, as well as outside consultants (tax advisors, auditors, legal counsel, etc.).  As such the position provides exposure to all facets of the Companies operations and management.  We are looking for a person who is a self-starter and enjoys learning new concepts.


    • Working with outside service providers, manage all US, state and local tax filings
    • Research of tax issues as matters arise; stay abreast of tax legislation
    • Working with outside service providers, review quarterly and annual projected taxable income calculations for partnerships, REITs, and corporations
    • Prepare earnings & profits calculation for dividend classification 1099-DIV reporting
    • Coordinate filing of Form 1099-DIV with the transfer agentReview federal, state and local tax returns for partnerships, REITs, and corporations.
    • Review tax provisions for corporate entities
    • Review quarterly REIT tests and manage REIT compliance including managing property service questionnaires, impermissible tenant service and lease reviews
    • Review state apportionment and state withholding calculations
    • Working with tax, IT, and accounting teams, help automate tax processes to gain efficiencies and improve tax risk management
    • Review allocations and work paper packages for the outside accountants.


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, required; Master’s degree in accounting preferred
    • 5 to 6 years related experience (three years of public accounting experience required)
    • Certified Public Accountant preferred
    • Experience with Real Estate industry experience
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Experience with Yardi accounting software preferred
    • Well-developed analytical, interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
