  • Overview

    JBG SMITH is a vertically-integrated real estate firm specializing in office, residential, retail and mixed-use assets in the Washington D.C. Metro area. The Investment Vice President/Senior Vice President will be responsible for sourcing and screening acquisition opportunities, managing asset dispositions and recapitalizations and evaluating strategic investment opportunities within the JBG SMITH portfolio in coordination with development and asset management teams. 

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities of the Investment Vice President/Senior Vice President include:

    • Overseeing financial analyses to evaluate internal investment opportunities including development, repositioning and value-add opportunities within existing portfolio
    • Coordinating with asset management and development teams to ensure successful execution of investment strategy
    • Leading disposition processes for the sale or recapitalization of assets
    • Negotiating letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements and other legal documents with third parties
    • Underwriting new investments and managing the associated due diligence process
    • Training financial analysts on real estate finance and acting as a mentor to them regarding career development
    • Providing guidance to financial analysts in the preparation of work product and refining work as necessary
    • Preparing and presenting investment memoranda for an internal Investment Committee
    • Developing relationships with brokers, competitors, joint venture partners and other market participants

    Qualifications

    The candidate must have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in Real Estate Investments, Private Equity, and/or Investment Banking. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and preferably an MBA with exceptional academic records, superior financial skills, strong attention to detail, ability to manage and mentor junior financial analysts and excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates should be entrepreneurial with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a variety of teams.
