  • Overview

    In the Financial Analyst role, you will have the opportunity to (i) deepen your analytical and financial modeling skills (ii) develop real estate valuation skills, (iii) learn the key drivers of retail and (iv) interact with many groups throughout the company including acquisitions, development, marketing, accounting, lease administration and Senior Executives at JBG SMITH.


    The Financial Analyst in Retail Asset Management is responsible for working with senior leadership in the Retail Asset Management group and third-party owners to maximize the value of the assets under management.  Your responsibilities will include:

    • Creating cash flow valuation models for a portfolio of retail assets
    • Coordinating the annual budgeting process, including working closely with property managers to prepare budgets and business plans
    • Providing financial analysis of potential retail lease transactions to ensure maximum value creation and review of tenant financials to confirm creditworthiness
    • Reviewing and tracking key provisions and critical path dates in retail leases
    • Participating in evaluating retail acquisition opportunities and assisting with due diligence
    • Reviewing monthly accruals and financial statements to ensure accuracy and working with accounting, property management and lease administration to correct issues
    • Updating monthly and quarterly reporting materials for third-party owners, lenders, investors and Senior Executives
    • Preparing other analysis as needed to support the retail asset management team

    • 0 - 2 years of real estate experience in investments, asset management, or development
