  • Overview

    The Manager, SEC Reporting will assist in the preparation and review of internal and external reporting documents including, but not limited to: Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q, Annual Reports on Form 10-K, quarterly supplemental information packages and quarterly internal management reporting. The Manager, SEC Reporting will also be responsible for drafting accounting policies and accounting pronouncement memos, and assisting with the Company’s SOX compliance process. This individual will work in collaboration with both internal and external auditors. The Manager, SEC Reporting will supervise the SEC Analyst, which includes reviewing work performed by the Analyst, providing guidance and allocating work appropriately.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (e.g., Annual Report on Form 10-K and Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q) and supplemental information reporting package;
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and other schedules, included in quarterly earnings release and filed on Form 8-K with the SEC;
    • Review the work of the SEC Analyst;
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to the SEC Analyst;
    • Assist in the interpretation, communication and implementation of new accounting and reporting standards;
    • Participate in the analysis and/or review of various periodic journal entries to be recorded in the general ledger, including those related to significant leasing activity, asset acquisitions and dispositions;
    • Preparation of Form 8-Ks and various other ad-hoc SEC filings as needed;
    • Involvement, as necessary, in any other SEC filings (e.g., Proxy, Forms S-1, S-3, S-8 and S-11);
    • Assist in the coordination with external and internal auditors with regards to review and audit procedures;
    • Assist in the development and documentation of new accounting policies and procedures;
    • Assist in implementing new accounting policies and internal control processes;
    • Work with the Company’s internal auditors to ensure all SOX documentation is provided on a timely basis;
    • Work with other groups within the Company to compile and verify reporting measures (i.e. FFO, EBITDA, NOI);
    • Articulate results to the CFO, CAO and other members of the Company’s Executive Team;
    • Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment; and
    • Effective complete special ad hoc projects as needed.

    Qualifications

    In order to perform this job successfully, this individual must have the following characteristics: strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks; detail oriented; strong analytical skills; high level of interpersonal skills; tact and diplomacy to demonstrate the ability to work in a team-oriented environment and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Education and/or Experience:

     

    • Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • Required: Strong Excel skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Required: CPA License
    • Required: Four to six years of experience in a Big 4/National accounting firm and /or with a publicly-traded company
    • Preferred: Previous accounting experience in the commercial real estate environment and/or with US GAAP
    • Preferred: Experience with Yardi
