SHIFT: Tuesday through Saturday nights, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
The Engineer works as a member of a team that performs maintenance and executes operational requirements on a shift of 2 to 3 persons. The property consists of 2 million SF and is the headquarters for the US Department of Transportation and is the office of the Secretary of Transportation. The Engineer also acts as the supervisor for the shift on a minimum of two days per week.
The position requires a minimum of 6 years’ experience in facility plant engineering and maintenance operations. Must possess a DC-3 License and universal CFC certification. Experience should include troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Duties include but are not limited to maintenance and operation of chillers, boilers, building automation system operation, air handlers, VAV control systems, cooling towers, diesel generators, UPS systems, and fire alarm systems.
Engineer must have a working knowledge of piping systems and the knowledge of reading basic blueprints. Independent judgment of initiative is expected, as the Engineer assumes the responsibility for the correct operation of the building in the absence of the senior engineer. A high school diploma, GED, technical school apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required. This position requires the training of Helpers, General Utility, Maintenance mechanic and Lead Mechanic personnel. Participates in safe reliable operation of a mechanical plant and following the emergency preparedness protocols as outlined. This position requires experience in the use of office computer software and the ability to operate the BAS when so authorized by the senior engineer. Individual is responsible for the safe and efficient operation during his shift.
DC 3 license required. Other training desired, but not required are: Air Conditioning III Operations and Maintenance, Refrigeration Controls III, Basic and Direct Digital Controls III, and Indoor Air Quality and OSHA safety training.
