  • Senior Financial Analyst - Residential Asset Management

  • Overview

    The Senior Financial Analyst, Residential Asset Management is responsible for working with senior leadership in the Residential Asset Management group to create and implement strategies to maximize the value of the assets within their portfolio. This includes active involvement in all aspects of managing residential investments from monitoring financial performance relative to business plans and budgets to coordinating with operations on strategies to attract and retain residential tenants


    • Undertakes day-to-day asset management responsibilities for select projects including analysis of revenue optimization/pricing strategies and operating expense reduction opportunities
    • Prepares investment analysis and evaluates metrics on renovation and new business opportunities
    • Participates in evaluating new residential acquisition opportunities and assists with due diligence
    • Coordinates the semi-annual update and presentation of the financial models for all residential assets
    • Monitors residential portfolio performance relative to market trends and competitor performance
    • Reviews monthly accruals and financial statements to ensure accuracy and works with the accounting group and the onsite property management teams to drill down on anomalies and correct issues
    • Updates monthly and quarterly reporting materials for lenders, investors and Senior Executives
    • Prepares other reports and analysis as needed to support the residential asset management team
    • Interacts with many other groups throughout the company including acquisitions, development, property management, marketing, accounting and Senior Executives at JBG Smith


    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in real estate, management, finance or business administration
    • Minimum of 2 years of real estate experience in investments, asset management, or development
    • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial underwriting / modeling with advanced proficiency in Excel spreadsheets
    • Conscientious, self-directed and entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with teams
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude
