  • Financial Analyst in Residential Asset Management

  • Overview

    The position will be a Financial Analyst position within JBG’s Residential Asset Management group. At JBG SMITH, the Residential Asset Management group is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maximize the value of each of the residential and mixed-use (residential/retail) assets within its portfolio. 


    The Financial Analyst will participate in all aspects of the asset management process, which spans the entire lifecycle of residential deals from acquisition to disposition. Key responsibilities are as follows:


    • Monitor market trends and competitor performance and prepare financial analysis to support the investigation of value-add opportunities within the existing residential portfolio
    • Participate in evaluating new residential acquisition opportunities and assist with due diligence
    • Prepare investment analysis and evaluate metrics on renovation/repositioning opportunities
    • Coordinate the semi-annual update and presentation of the financial models for all residential assets
    • Review monthly accruals and financial statements to ensure accuracy and work with the accounting group and the onsite property management teams to drill down on anomalies and correct issues
    • Review and update, as needed, quarterly reporting materials for lenders and investors
    • Prepare other reports and analysis as needed to support the residential asset management team
    • The Financial Analyst will interact with acquisition teams, development teams, property management and senior management at JBG SMITH.


    We are seeking candidates with 0-2 years of real estate, investments, or financial experience with exceptional academic records, superior quantitative skills and analytical abilities, advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates should be conscientious, self-directed and entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with a variety of teams. Candidates also need to have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude.
