The Portfolio Management Associate/VP will be responsible for coordinating and evaluating portfolio and corporate level analysis for JBG SMITH, specifically for cash planning, balance sheet management, valuation, and capital allocation purposes.  Responsibilities include preparation and management of the JBG SMITH corporate model and internal valuation model to assist senior executives with strategic investment and capital allocation decisions.  The Portfolio Management Associate/VP will be responsible for managing the preparation of agenda, memoranda and meeting minutes for regular Portfolio Management Committee meetings with senior executives.


The position will require regular communication and coordination with fellow portfolio management team members, investments teams, development teams, asset management teams, and senior management within each of those groups.  The Portfolio Management Associate/VP role will provide a valuable opportunity to (i) deepen analytical and financial modeling skills, (ii) develop real estate and corporate valuation skills, (iii) gain exposure to strategic corporate decision making, and (iv) interact with senior executives across the firm. 



  • Preparation and presentation of memoranda for internal Portfolio Management Committee
  • Management of agenda and meeting notes for Portfolio Management Committee
  • Management of portfolio management analysts in the preparation of the corporate model, supporting portfolio analyses, and corporate valuation model
  • Coordination of the semiannual process to update corporate model projections and valuations
  • Coordination of underwriting for strategic M&A and corporate level capital raising including coordination with investment bankers
  • Coordination with the Director of Tax on tax planning and dividend policy


We are seeking a candidate with 3-7 years of related experience. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and preferably an MBA with exceptional academic records, superior financial skills, strong attention to detail, ability to manage and mentor junior financial analysts and excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates should be entrepreneurial with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a variety of teams.
