Corporate Accounting Manager

This full-time position at a public Real Estate Investment Trust with a market capitalization of ~$4 billion directly reviews/prepares work in complex accounting areas such as financial forecasting, revenue, equity, capitalized payroll, hedge accounting, equity-method investments, and consolidation. This individual will be expected to lead and develop 5-6 high-performing direct reports, as well as take a leadership role within the department and company. Highly motivated problem solvers with an ability to make processes more efficient will thrive in this role.


  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual G&A budgets and track performance throughout the year (including budget vs. actual analytics reviewed by C-Suite executives)
  • Prepare and detail review work performed by staff in a SOX-regulated environment, including:
    • Revenue – several different revenue streams, including accounting for transactions with wholly-owned, partially-owned, and third-party managed properties
    • Equity – share-based compensation includes performance-based (OPP) and time-based (restricted) LTIP units
    • Capitalized Payroll – record using GAAP billing rates and timesheet data
    • Hedge Accounting – work with third-party valuation groups to account for derivatives
    • Equity-Method Investments – impact of non-controlling interest on day-to-day accounting
    • Consolidation - ~200 corporate cost centers and ~120 properties
  • Supervise a staff of 5-6 corporate accountants. Duties include:
  • Set goals for staff and evaluate performance throughout the year
  • Outline work that needs to be completed and allocate amongst staff
  • Provide guidance for accounting for various transactions and recording journal entries
  • Cross-train staff
  • Implement SOX-compliant processes and ensure adherence to agreed-upon controls
  • Prepare schedules to be disclosed within various public filings
  • Perform other tasks or special projects as needed

  • Must feel comfortable managing a team and providing constructive feedback on a regular basis




  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5 years of accounting work experience, including 1-2 years of management experience
  • Public accounting and Real estate/REIT experience is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Yardi is a plus
