Mechanic at Summitt II



* This shift is from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm


  • This position requires 4-5 year experience in general building maintenance.
  • Universal CFC certification.
  • Necessary for the individual to drive to other JBGS sites within the Reston portfolio
  • Troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing problems, including repair of pumps, motors, pump seals, painting, and a working knowledge of piping systems.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to recognize an emergency situation or condition that could lead to an emergency.  Individual knows steps to take in any emergency with the MEP systems, or knows a situation where in the senior engineer or supervisor should be consulted. 
  • Ability to teach co-workers basic elements of building and HVAC maintenance.
  • Participation in the safe reliable operation of the mechanical plant, performing preventive maintenance as directed, and following the emergency preparedness protocols as outlined.
  • This position requires the individual be thoroughly familiar with safety requirements associated with the building and with the tools, ladders and testing equipment for the building.
  • This position requires use of computers and software including a basic understanding of the BAS computer.
  • Individual is required to have a thorough understanding of the Fire life safety system operation.
  • Other duties include the ability to make opening and closing inspections, and to pass on to the next shift those situations that merit close scrutiny.
  • A high school diploma, GED, technical school apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent is required. 


Entry Level Maintenance, Plant Equipment and Operations, Electrical Basic Electricity, Controls I – Basic, Blueprint Reading, CFC Seminars and Test, Basic Electricity, Schematics, Electrical Systems, Electric Motors Electrical Systems Code & Theory, Basic Boiler Plant Operations, HVACR-1, OSHA Safety Training.
