Senior Financial Analyst in Retail Asset Management

The Senior Financial Analyst in Retail Asset Management will be responsible for preparing financial analysis and modeling that will assist the Retail Asset Management team in developing and implementing strategies to maximize the value of each of the assets within its portfolio.  In that capacity, the Senior Financial Analyst will interact with the acquisitions, development, property management, leasing and accounting teams as well as Senior Management at JBG. 


  • Coordinate the annual budgeting and quarterly reporting processes, including working closely with property managers to prepare property budgets and variance analysis
  • Review monthly property financial statements to ensure accuracy and work with the accounting group and property management team to drill down on anomalies and correct issues
  • Provide financial analysis to support property level asset management decisions including analysis of potential lease transactions to ensure maximum value creation, review of tenant financials to confirm creditworthiness and preparation of cash distributions to ownership
  • Review and track key provisions in retail leases (i.e., co-tenancy provisions, CAM language)
  • Coordinate loan deliverables (including loan draws) and manage reporting requirements
  • Track departmental revenue and expense data including management fees and third party costs
  • Provide due diligence support during the asset acquisition / disposition process


The candidate must have 2 to 4 years of real estate, investments or financial experience with an exceptional academic record, superior quantitative skills and analytical abilities, advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communications skills.  Candidates should be conscientious, self-directed and entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with teams.  Candidates also need to have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude.
